Purchasing Skype Credit in India Just Got Easier Thanks to Sify.com Partnership

A new partnership between Microsoft and Sify.com has made purchasing Skype credit in India an easier task. Thanks to this deal, Indian Skype users will be able to use Indian debit cards, credit cards and NetBanking to purchase Skype credit or subscriptions. Prior to this deal, Indian Skype users had to use International credit cards to purchase these services.

This deal was announced by Microsoft today via a blog entry. “At Skype we’re always looking for ways for you to stay in touch more easily with friends and family,” said the Skype Team. “So we’ve teamed up with Sify.com to make it easier in India to pay for Skype Credit and subscriptions for international calls.”

According to this partnership, Sify.com will enable the use of domestic payment methods for Skype users in the country. When purchasing Skype credit in India, users will be redirected to Sify’s payment gateway where users can purchase Skype credit in Indian Rupee. Sify will also maintain the Skype microsite at www.sify.com/skype

Purchasing Skype credit in India is a fairly simple process:

  • Go to Skype.com/rates
  • Select the subscription or the amount of Skype Credit you’d like to buy
  • On the checkout page, enter your Indian billing address and you’ll be able to pay using your local credit, debit card or NetBanking

This comes as a good news for regular Skype users in India as they will be able to pay for these services using domestic payment methods.
