Microsoft Starts Rolling Out Cortana for iOS Beta to Selected Users

After announcing plans to bring its personal digital assistant to Android and iOS devices in May, Microsoft made Cortana available on Android platform in August. Now it’s turn for iOS. As promised, Microsoft has made Cortana for iOS beta available to selected users.

A number of users who signed up for testing Cortana beta program for iOS earlier this month have started receiving link for installing it on their iOS devices. It is not clear whether everyone who signed-up have received the link but it seems those who applied in the early days may have received the invitation.

At the moment, Microsoft is using TestFlight Beta Testing to deliver Cortana on iOS. TestFlight lets developers invite up to 2,000 users to test their apps before they release them on the App Store. Each invited user can test the app on a maximum of 10 devices for a period of 60 days.

According to the description of Cortana for iOS beta, Cortana can perform a number of tasks. Setting up a reminder on a Windows 10 PC and being reminded on iPhone is one of them. Cortana’s limitation at the moment include the inability to set people based reminders and adding, editing or deleting favorite places. The UX for call, SMS, calendar and reminder is also ‘rough’ at the moment.

How to Sign Up for Cortana for iOS Beta Testing?

If you are interested in signing up for Cortana for iOS beta program, you can still do so. You are required to fill-up a survey after which, you will receive an invitation for Cortana for iOS beta. It is worth noting that it’s up to Microsoft to decide whether you’re eligible for testing Cortana and when you will receive the invitation.
