Skype for iOS has just been updated to version 6.5. Skype 6.5 aims towards taking benefit of iOS 9 and Force Touch feature of iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. In previous Skype update, Mojis, Skype Translator and new emoticons were released. With Skype version 6.5, Peek and Pop feature has made its way to iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Along with Peek and Pop integration, the latest Skype for iOS also brings some fun video filters which can be used with video messages.
Skype video messages allow you to record short video clips which can be sent to contacts. Video messages can be viewed by receiver at any time without being online. A filter can be added to video message by tapping on filter button available on the left side of the video message screen. After which, a video filter can be chosen. Just record a video with your desired filter and sent it to your contacts and make them smile with different filters available.
In addition to filters for video messages, Skype 6.5 update brings Peek and Pop integration. On an iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, you can ‘force-touch’ Skype icon for quick access to most used features such as searching contacts and starting a call or chat. A Skype dial pad can also be accessed using Force Touch.
Inside Skype app, Force Touch can be used to peek latest Skype messages or live videos. A photo, URL or contact can be ‘Peeked’ by using Force Touch on them.
Another feature released in Skype 6.5 includes the ability to hide and delete chats from recent conversations. Swipe a contact or tap Edit and choose if you want to delete the entire chat history or simply hide it from Recent list. Entire chat history can also be deleted from the conversation using chat menu.
A Skype contact can now be shared by tapping the contact card icon in a conversation to open the contact list. Select the contact you wish to share, tap the tick icon and send it.
Skype 6.5 can be downloaded from Apple AppStore for free.
