I have a good news for all present and upcoming Microsoft developers. Microsoft is gearing up for Windows 10 certifications and each week we have news about new Windows 10 exams being announced by Microsoft. This time, Microsoft has announced the availability of new MCSD exam i.e. Exam 70-355: Universal Windows Platform – App Data, Services, and Coding Patterns in beta stage. The good news is, that you can take exam 70-355 for free! Interesting? Keep reading to learn more.
Microsoft is getting rid of OS specific credential titles and is in process of creating a ‘Universal Windows Platform’. Windows 10 specific exams does not include Windows 10 (or any other OS name for that matter) in their title any more. For example, exam 70-697: Configuring Windows Devices. Now with the new MCSD exams, Microsoft has continued the trend.
Coming back to the new Windows 10 MCSD credentials announcement, Microsoft has made exam 70-355 available in beta. A beta exam means you will receive full credit towards your certification and you will earn a ‘Specialist’ certificate. But you will not receive your pass/fail score until 8-12 weeks after the exam is out of beta. If you are interested in scoring your Windows 10 MCSD certification, there can’t be a better time, as exam 70-355 is available for free.
Microsoft has opened 300 seats for exam 70-355: Universal Windows Platform – App Data, Services, and Coding Patterns. Which means you can take the exam for free if you grab the opportunity at this very moment. These seats are available on first come first serve basis. So hurry up and book your exam now. While registering for exam, you will need to enter a promotional code to make this exam free for you. Enter voucher code BETA355MCP at the time of checkout and apply the code. Applying this code will make the exam free for you.
Let me also include an important information for present and upcoming MCSD credential holders. In order to earn your new Windows 10 MCSD: Universal Windows Platform credential, you are required to pass three exams. There exams are as follows.
- Exam 483: Programming in C# (passing exam 483 will give you a ‘Specialist‘ certification)
- Exam 354: Universal Windows Platform – App Architecture and UX/UI (currently in beta) Try code BETA354MCP while checking out. The code might still work.
- Exam 355: Universal Windows Platform – App Data, Services, and Coding Patterns (currently in beta).
Upon passing all three exams, you will earn your MCSD: Universal Windows Platform credential. If you have already passed exam 483, continue to exams 70-354 and 70-355 to proceed towards your Windows 10 MCSD certification.
