Here’s How Google Self Driving Cars Look With All New Paint Jobs

[mks_dropcap style=”square” size=”52″ bg_color=”#ff3b3e” txt_color=”#ffffff”]G[/mks_dropcap]oogle self driving car project is already creating hypes around. It is one of the coolest project being developed by any company out there.  Upon being successfully executed, Google self driving cars will change the way we commute via cars. Google has been testing driver-less cars since 2012. Google first begun on-road testing of its self-driving cars with  Toyota Prius, Audi TT, and Lexus RX450h. Since last year, Google has been testing its own prototype of driver-less cars which have been designed in-house by Google. These prototype cars does not have steering wheel or pedals. Now these cute Google cars have got a makeover instead of dull white color on the body.

Through its Paint the Town competition, Google invited artists from California to submit artwork based on the theme “my community, my neighbors.” Out of the submissions, Google chose a few artworks which will be featured on their self driving prototype cars. Although Google’s prototype driver-less cars have been designed to work without a steering wheel or pedals, Google has included a removable steering wheel and pedals during the testing phase phase which allows a safety driver to take over while driving. These cars are using Lexus software so far.

In conclusion, Google’s cute little self driving cars will no longer look dull and boring, but sport rather colourful artwork designed by artists. A similar competition is going on for Austin as well. The last date of submitting artworks was 1st November, but the page is either not updated with results or still accepting submissions. The selected artists will get a ride in one of Google’s self-driving vehicles and receive a $500 gift card. Cool isn’t it?
