Upgrade Now: Last Week of Internet Explorer 8, 9 and 10 Support

[mks_dropcap style=”square” size=”52″ bg_color=”#ff3b3e” txt_color=”#ffffff”]M[/mks_dropcap]icrosoft has announced that starting from 12th January, 2016, the support for Internet Explorer versions 8, 9 and 10 will come to end. These old versions of Internet Explorer will no longer receive any security updates or technical support from Microsoft.

To notify users of older IE version, Microsoft has released a patch which asks users to upgrade to newer browsers Internet Explorer 11 or recently released Microsoft Edge.

According to the announcement made by Microsoft, Internet Explorer 11, the last version of Internet Explorer, will continue to receive security updates, compatibility fixes, and technical support on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 operating systems.

If you are still using older version of Internet Explorer for home or office use, it is strictly advised to upgrade to the most recent version of Internet Explorer (version 11) or Microsoft Edge. Continued use of outdated web-browser can lead to security and compatibility issues.

Outdated Web Browser: Good for Nothing

An outdated browser can be exposes to security threats and your PC may become an easy target to harmful viruses designed to take benefit of unpatched vulnerabilities. These viruses, malware or other malicious software could steal your data or infect your PC with other malicious software.

If you are a home user, you should have received the latest supported version of Internet Explorer. If you are a user of old version of Internet explorer in a corporate environment, consult your IT department regarding the latest IE version.

Who uses Internet Explorer,anyway? ?

Before jumping on conclusion that no one uses Internet Explorer out there, think again. I have personally seen corporate users being forced into using old IE versions as their internal applications are not designed/updated to work on newer browsers.

Corporate use of outdated browsers may lead to even more consequences as they could possibly face data breach.

Internet Explorer 11 Enterprise Mode

If your applications are not designed to work with newer browsers, you can use Enterprise Mode of Internet Explorer 11. Enterprise Mode offers better backward compatibility to many legacy web applications which are designed for older versions of Internet Explorer.

It’s time to upgrade your generations old outdated browsers. Act now and switch to a newer web-browser.
