Instagram Adds Multiple Accounts Support for iOS and Android

Instagram has some great news for individual users, business owners and social media managers. The latest version of Instagram app for iOS and Android lets you add and switch between multiple accounts easily. Instagram was testing out this feature since a couple of months and today it finally announced the availability.

The new feature brings relief for users maintaining more than one accounts, which is quite common trend these days. Users have their own personal accounts, their kids’ accounts, pets’ accounts, hobby accounts and certainly every possible type of profiles. Business owners and social media managers usually have to deal with multiple profiles for their clients. With that said, the ability to add and switch between multiple accounts was one of the most awaited feature of Instagram.

Instagram was testing out this feature since November and has finally made it officially available to every user today.

To use multiple accounts with Instagram app, you need the latest version installed. The feature has been added with the launch of version 7.15 for both iOS and Android. Up to five different accounts can be added to Instagram app.

How to add multiple accounts in Instagram app?

Adding more than multiple accounts is easy.

  • Go to your profile and tap Settings icon the top right corner.
  • Scroll down and tap Add Account (See Update 2 at the bottom of this article if Add Account option is not visible)
  • Enter the username and password of the account you’d like to add

That’s it.

How to switch between accounts in Instagram app?

  • Go to your profile
  • Tap your username at the top of the screen
  • Tap the account you’d like to switch to

Once you have more than one accounts added, your profile photo will appear in places throughout the app allowing you to identify which one you’re using at the moment.

The latest Instagram app can be downloaded for iOS and Android.

Update: It appears that the multiple account feature is not available to everyone just yet. Are you able to see the Add Account option at the bottom? Share with us with your OS (iOS/Android), app version and app store region.

Update 2: If you are not able to see the Add Account option in settings, logout from Instagram, kill the app from task manager and open it again. Log back in, and go to settings. The Add Account option should be visible now.
