Windows 10 Mobile Arrives to Older Phones: Here’s All You Need to Know

The strong expectation of Microsoft releasing Windows 10 Mobile to older phone today -17th March has turned out to be true. Microsoft has finally announced availability of Windows 10 Mobile upgrade to a select set of Windows 8.1 device.

Microsoft has said that many older devices are not able to successfully upgrade without impacting customer experience due to  significant new innovations in Windows 10, keeping some phones out of Windows 10 upgrade possibility.

Devices eligible to receive Windows 10 Mobile upgrade are: Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, MCJ Madosma Q501.

Microsoft has made it clear that phones with 512 MB RAM will not support Windows 10 mobile upgrade.


To check if the Windows 10 upgrade is available for your phone and install the upgrade, install the Upgrade Advisor app from Windows Store and run the app to see if the update is available and select Enable Windows 10 upgrade.
