You Can Now Save Instagram Live Video: Here’s How to Do That

One more good news for Instagram users! You can now save Instagram Live videos to your camera roll. What does that mean? Well, it means that you can go live anytime, stream your live video and once the stream is over, you can save the whole video to your phone. You can either watch it anytime you want, or edit and upload to your social media feeds including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc.

“While live videos will continue to disappear from the app when you’re done, this update gives you the flexibility to hold onto your video and re-watch it later,” reads the latest Instagram blog post announcing this new feature. The ability to save Instagram Live video will be arriving to both iOS and Android versions of the app. Windows Phone users will have to wait for some time before this new feature hits their device.

This update is the latest addition to Instagram features launched recently. Just about a month ago, Facebook-owned Instagram launched a feature that allows a user to share multiple photos or videos in a single post. Instagram’s previous updates include the ability to use multiple accounts, disappearing photos or videos in direct messages, stories, and the live video feature itself.

How to Save Instagram Live Video to Camera Roll?

It’s pretty simple to save your live video to your phone’s camera roll. Just launch your live stream as usual and once you are done, end the live stream.

To start the live stream, tap the camera icon in the top left of the screen and tap Live at the bottom. Now tap Start Live Video. This will start your live feed.

To end the video, tap End on upper right corner and your stream will end.

Once you end your Instagram live video, you will see an option to save it. Look for the ‘Save’ button on the ‘Live video ended’ screen.

Tap the Save button and Instagram will save your whole live stream to the camera roll. Be patient, as it will take time depending on the length of your video.

As the blog post points out, this video will be saved to your camera roll and no longer be available on the Instagram platform as usual. When you save your live video, it will not save the comments, likes, the number of viewers or any live interactions along with it.
