Players Gonna Play! Taylor Swift To Launch Her Own Game by Late 2016

You love Taylor Swift? You love playing games? So how about loving Taylor Swift IN a game? It seems you’ll soon be able to play a Taylor Swift game which is being developed by Glu Mobile, a leading global developer of free-to-play games for smartphone and tablets.

In a press release yesterday, Glu Mobile has announced that it will producing a game featuring Grammy Award winning pop-sensation Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift’s game is expected to see a worldwide release somewhere around late 2016, possibly around Christmas.

“Bringing with her over 227 million social followers, I am thrilled to welcome Taylor Swift, an award-winning singer, musician and songwriter, to Glu’s family,” said Niccolo de Masi, Glu Chairman and CEO in a statement.

According to the press release, Swift will work exclusively with Glu as part of a “multi-year partnership” to develop and create a new, one-of-a-kind digital gaming experience. We will surely be waiting for that “new, one-of-a-kind” gaming experience, Taylor! Bring it on.

We realize that Taylor and her global fan base expect a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience. Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilize Taylor’s unique creativity. Accordingly, we will spend the required development time to ensure this innovation is achieved. – Said Niccolo.

It is worth noting that Glue Mobile is also the developer behind Kim Kardashian’s popular game. ‘Kim Kardashian: Hollywood‘ game generated $74.3 million, or more than 30 percent of Glu’s revenue in 2014, reaching a total of $127 million since its launch. Glue also developed Katy Perry’s game called Katy Perry Pop released last year in December which failed to match Kim Kardashian: Hollywood’s popularity and profit.

Glue will be releasing games based on Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj before Swift’s game land’s in our hand.

Thanks to the spree of games based on celebrities, the mobile gaming industry is booming. In 2015, mobile gaming industry saw a record revenue of $24.7 billion. This revenue is expected to touch the new height of $45 billion by 2018.
