WhatsApp has finally launched its much awaited and hyped calling feature. WhatsApp has been testing WhatsApp Calling feature since a few weeks now on both Android and iOS devices. Yesterday WhatsApp finally released calling feature on Android with the latest WhatsApp version 2.11.561. While WhatsApp Calling feature is not available right on the screen via easy to use option yet, it can be enabled easily by following a few steps as mentioned below.
To enable WhatsApp calling on your Android device, first you will need to install the latest version from Google Play Store. You will also require a WhatsApp user who already has calling feature.
Once you have the latest version of WhatsApp, ask a user who has WhatsApp calling feature to call you via WhatsApp. Once you accept the call, disconnect and close WhatsApp. Then upon relaunching, you will see three tabs in WhatsApp i.e. Calls, Chats and Contacts. If so, you have got the WhatsApp Calling feature.
Now you can make calls to other WhatsApp users via calling feature and those users will get this feature too. Only thing they need to have is the latest version of WhatsApp.
WhatsApp has not made any official announcement regarding this feature and this is not the way it is intended to be activated. We should see them releasing the official, one-touch way of having this feature soon. And not to forget the availability of WhatsApp calling in iOS too.
Note: There are users posting comments on different sites who give you their phone number and ask you to call them in order to get a WhatsApp call from them. If you are desperate to get this feature, it is advised to proceed with caution and not to get involved with strangers. You should rather wait for WhatsApp to release it officially.
