Is Windows 10 Mobile Finally Launching Today?

Update: Speculations turned out to be true. Microsoft has just made Window 10 Mobile available to older phones. Read more here.

Are you among those Windows 10 fans waiting for Microsoft to drop it for your phone? It looks like the ages of wait might be over today. Unconfirmed reports are pointing towards Windows 10 Mobile being released today -17th March.

The reports of Microsoft finally launching Windows 10 to older mobile devices started surfacing over the Web since yesterday. Evan Blass, a reliable ‘leaker’ known as EV Leaks, has reported on VentureBeat that Microsoft is most certainly releasing Windows 10 Mobile today.

Windows 10 Mobile’s dedicated page on Microsoft also hints towards its imminent  release. A small, barely noticeable change was made on its page which now states “The latest and greatest Windows experience is now on Lumia smartphones.” As MSPoweruser notices, the same text used to read “The latest and greatest Windows experience is coming to Lumia smartphones.”

Evan’s VentureBeat report is based on a person familiar with the company’s (Microsoft) plans. After being long delayed, Microsoft’ Windows 10 upgrade is just about to be released, according to VentureBeat.

Windows 10 Mobile Device Eligibility

Right now it is not clear which devices will be eligible to receive Windows 10 upgrade but a number of Lumia phones are expected to be the ‘chosen ones.’ These devices will reportedly include Lumia 435 SS/DS, Lumia 535 SS/DS, Lumia 635 1GB SS, Lumia 640 SS, Lumia 640XL SS, Lumia 735 SS, Lumia 830 SS, Lumia 930 SS, Lumia 1520 SS among others.

The release of Windows 10 has been delayed previously with Microsoft failing to deliver it on time. Microsoft is constantly testing Windows 10 Mobile via its Windows Insider program and now it seems they are good to with Windows 10 Mobile release.
