iOS 9.2 Is Here: Download iOS 9.2 IPSW for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

Apple has released iOS 9.2 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. iOS 9.2 brings a large number of bug fixes and performance improvements along with new capabilities. Below you will find iOS 9.2 changelog, with a guide on how to download iOS 9.2 IPSW and upgrade your device to iOS 9.2.

Notable improvements and fixes in iOS 9.2 includes support for MailDrop feature in Mail for sending large attachments. The Safari View Controller enhancements now offer Action Extension support for third-party apps. iOS 9.2 supports AT&T NumberSync service.

In addition, iOS 9.2 brings a lot of bug fixes and stability improvements for apps including Safari, Music, Podcasts, Health, Camera and Calendar apps. On hardware side, the new and improved Lightning to SD card reader support has been added to compatible devices.

A compatible device can be updated as usual using Over the Air (OTA) upgrade as well as upgrading via iTunes using IPSW files.

How to Upgrade iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to iOS 9.2

Method 1: Simple Upgrade: Upgrade to iOS 9.2 via Over the Air Upgrades
  • Backup your device and head over to Settings > General > Software Update
  • Let it fetch update details and when it says update available, tap Download and Install
  • Let the update progress finish and you’re done.
Method 2: Advanced Upgrade: Upgrade to iOS 9.2 via iTunes using IPSW file
  • Download iOS 9.2 IPSW for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch using the direct download links given below.
  • Open iTunes, connect your device to PC/Mac and take full backup.
  • Press Shift key (on Windows) or Option key (on Mac) on your keyboard and click Update in iTunes.
  • Release Shift/Option key and browse to the iOS 9.2 IPSW file you just downloaded.
  • Select the IPSW file and click update. Wait for the process to finish.
  • Your device may reboot multiple times during update process.

Note to jailbreakers: Currently there is no jailbreak available for iOS 9.2 or 9.1. If your device is jailbroken on any previous iOS version, it is advised not to upgrade to iOS 9.2 as there’s no way you can downgrade to iOS < 9.1.
