Apple released iOS 12 last month with more attention to stability and performance improvements than on bringing new features. Now it’s time for the first major update to iOS 12.
Apple has just released iOS 12.1 with new features like group FaceTime, new emojis, and dual-SIM support with eSIM for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. There are also a number of improvement and fixes included in the latest iOS 12 update.
As usual, you can update your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to iOS 12.1 using Over the Air (OTA) or use the stock iOS file (IPSW file) to completely erase and update your device.
OTA is the quickest and easiest way to update your device. Just connect it to power outlet and WiFi, go to Settings > General > Software Update and tap Download and Install. Your device should be updated after a reboot.
Using IPSW file to update your device requires more time, patience, and the knowledge of what you are doing. If you don’t already know how to update your compatible iPhone, iPad or iPod touch using an IPSW file, refer to this article.
